In the mornings we will discuss:
•
The theoretical principles on which this
approach is based.
•
The major components of the therapeutic
methods used as a result.
•
The role of imagery and the symbolic
language.
•
Creating a milieu that enhances and
supports the healing process.
•
Expressive therapies available to
complement and enhance verbal counselling with adults: art, sand play,
assemblage, dollhouse and family of origin, writing, storytelling,
sewing etc…
•
Using the healing power of imagery and
expressive therapies for the purpose of strengthening
•
Using imagery and expressive therapies to
explore difficult issues that words cannot reach.
Participants will also have the
opportunity to discuss and consult on the use of expressive therapy with
clients whom they feel would benefit.
In the afternoons, participants will
both experience and facilitate the image making process through various
expressive therapies as related to the morning lecture material. Live demonstrations will be used when appropriate. |
