Intended for adult and/or child therapists who want to incorporate
and/or further develop the use of expressive therapies in their
practice. |
• The first 3 days will focus on the use of expressive therapies as a
way of releasing, transforming, and integrating traumatic experiences of
all kinds such as: Art therapy, Sand Play therapy, the use of the dollhouse,
puppets, masks, face painting, music and storytelling.
• The last 2 days will focus on expressive therapies that are both
ego strengthening and nurturing such as: sewing, candle making,
setting up a nature table, creating a small healing garden, and
including companion animals as co-therapists. |

|
 |
• Mornings
will be spent considering theoretical principles underlying the role of
expressive therapies in facilitating the self-healing process,
discussing the materials needed, and how and when they are used. A slide
presentation will illustrate various ways children with all types of
problems have used expressive therapies to deal with their issues.
• In the afternoon, participants will
be given the opportunity to experience the use of the various expressive
therapies as related to lecture material from the morning. |

|
• Questions and case consultations will be encouraged.
• Role-plays and demonstrations will be used when relevant.
The Centre for Expressive Therapy is accredited both by the Association for Play Therapy Provider number (#95-010) and the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy, Provider number (#09-102) to offer continuing education specific to play therapy. |
