The content of all training provided
is based on the approach developed by Marie-José Dhaese. It incorporates
the relationship, the milieu, expressive therapies, and family therapy.
Particular attention is paid to creating a therapeutic environment which
offers a wide variety of expressive therapies to facilitate symbolic
expression and transformation as well as provide ways of creating
healing images to support the recovery process. The expressive methods
include art therapy,
sandplay, play therapy, masks, face painting,
music, storytelling, sewing, food, and gardening. All these
therapies are accompanied by companion animals when appropriate.
This approach is person-centered, in the sense that it focuses on the
present needs of each individual child/adult, whether it is
non-directive or incorporates expressive structured interventions. The
many therapeutic interventions included are designed to meet the
individual needs of a broad population of all age groups.
